When a fresh Diablo 4 season lands, I'm not trying to "soak it in" at level 12 while everyone else is already gearing for endgame. If you want to be efficient, plan your first few hours like a sprint, not a sightseeing tour—and if you're short on mats or just hate picking up every coin, some players even purchase Diablo 4 Gold to keep the momentum going without constant detours. Season 12 plus Vessel of Hatred can get you to 60 fast, but only if you stop doing the stuff that feels productive and start doing what actually pays XP.

Set up for speed, not style
Start with a proper leveling build. Think wide AoE, good movement, low gear dependence. Don't pick something that needs perfect aspects to function. Stick to Normal difficulty early; it's not about ego, it's about time. With skill points coming a bit slower through the Seasonal Journey, higher difficulty can turn into awkward stalls. Also, make sure the base campaign is already completed on your account, but don't skip the Vessel of Hatred campaign at character creation. The expansion quests hand out chunky XP in a way the usual early grind just doesn't.

Early route that keeps you moving
The moment you load in, equip your pet and forget about loot anxiety—auto-pickup saves little pauses that add up. Do the opening seasonal steps only until the reputation board is unlocked, then pivot hard into the Vessel of Hatred main questline. Try not to "clean up" mobs on the way. If the quest doesn't require kills, keep running. Once mercenaries open up, take Subo as your main. His highlighting helps you stop second-guessing corridors and objectives, which is where a lot of time quietly dies.

The real time-saver and the last 10 levels
At level 10, swing by the Alchemist and Blacksmith. Keep a 5% XP elixir rolling the whole time, and temper movement speed onto boots and your amulet as soon as you can. Then comes the big trick: late in the expansion campaign you'll be told to meet Prava at Lorath's old hut. Don't do it. Log out to character select and choose to skip the remaining campaign. Playing those last missions tanks your XP pace, and the skip usually drops you around the level 50 mark.

Finishing to 60 without feeling stuck
From there, you're just farming smart. Helltides are steady because the density is always there, and you're rarely hunting for targets. If you've got Tributes of Growth, the Kurast Undercity is even better for big, clean XP chunks. Once you hit 45, stack incense with your elixir for a 10% boost and keep it up between runs. When you finally ding 60, swap into your endgame setup, start masterworking, and move into the season's real loop—if you want to skip some of the busywork, services like eznpc are often used by players to pick up currency or items so they can focus on pushing content instead of grinding basics.
